Running to put an end to Cancer
I've joined a team of athletes with one simple goal. The goal is to raise funds for cancer research so that we can put an end to cancer. I believe that our health is a gift from God. I choose to use it running marathons instead of burying it in the couch watching tv! =)
John Wayne has been an American symbol of strength, courage, and grit both on the screen and in real life. I hope to embody that as well as I run races in memory of Louisa Tsuneta.
Please join me in this fight against cancer by donating to the John Wayne Cancer Foundation by clicking on the 'Make a Donation' button.
The John Wayne Cancer Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) public charity, IRS Tax ID 95-4023430. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Inspirational quotes
Eric Liddell (from Chariots of Fire): You came to see a race today. To see someone win. It happened to be me. But I want you to do more than just watch a race. I want you to take part in it. I want to compare faith to running in a race. It's hard. It requires concentration of will, energy of soul. You experience elation when the winner breaks the tape - especially if you've got a bet on it. But how long does that last? You go home. Maybe you're dinner's burnt. Maybe you haven't got a job. So who am I to say, "Believe, have faith," in the face of life's realities? I would like to give you something more permanent, but I can only point the way. I have no formula for winning the race. Everyone runs in her own way, or his own way. And where does the power come from, to see the race to its end? From within. Jesus said, "Behold, the Kingdom of God is within you. If with all your hearts, you truly seek me, you shall ever surely find me." If you commit yourself to the love of Christ, then that is how you run a straight race.
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.” - T. S. Eliot
